Quarantine movie #5 is “Finding Traction” (2014).
This movie is about Nikki Kimball, a female ultra marathoner who wants beat the men’s and women’s record for running the 273 Mile “Long Trail” in Vermont’s Green Mountains.
Her message is that women can compete with men, not just in business but in athletic competition as well. The movie tracks her progress with the pace of the fastest man and fastest women so you can see how she is doing during the entire race.
She has pacers and people that run sections with her to help find the “blazes” that mark the rugged trail. Some locations are so steep that people have put ladders in areas that otherwise would need ropes.
So, you get to live 4 days and 4 nights of her running the 273 miles of trail. She does not beat the existing men’s record but crushes the woman’s record by two days.
Just for the record that is 68 miles a day in terrain so rough you cannot see the trail for most of it.
Good photography and some good background information from writers about endurance.
