Cuba: An Early Day 1

This morning we were in Miami because we flew out at 7:00 AM.  They wanted us at the airport at 4:00 AM because…Well, I don’t know why, but we were there.

We were limited to 44 pounds of luggage per person and they tell us that running shoes are at a premium in Cuba even if they are used.   I brought two extra pairs to donate, plus the ones I will run in on Sunday.

The more I read the more I am in for a challenge.  The temperature at the start will be in the mid 70’s and will be in the high 80’s by the finish and very humid.  Supposedly all those old cars everyone wants to see are out and about for the second half of the marathon and are all spewing black smoke from the exhaust.

I have pretty much confirmed there will be no internet and no cell phones, so I don’t think I will be able to get the blogs out until after we return on Monday the 16th and will need time to set them up.  So, I will try to keep everyone updated, but stay tuned for updates!
